Schoolhouse Rock was a marvel of its time.
Whenever I meet someone, truly meet someone, I capture their gaze, try to feel their Presence, and I ask them their name.
Most people tell me, and while I am holding their gaze and feeling what their body tells me, I repeat their name three times.
Travis, Travis, Travis.
A gentleman who I met yesterday. I can pull up his smile, I remember his trepedation as it turned to relief that I was friendly and not a threat.
We spoke, and I found what he is enthused about, and he shared with me.
I will remember him. And Travis will remember me.
But without Travis, Travis, Travis, I know from experience that I will not link up the name with all my other associations.
I have many disembodied ghosts like that in my mind. People I’ve met who I didn’t repeat three times.
If you read much of my work, you will find repetitions of three quite often.
