As an American it pains me to watch this play out. Our political system is completely corrupted by money. The entrenched two-party system allows each side to blame the other for our collective atrocities. Nobody genuinely feels responsible for any of the killing, maiming, and death. We turn a blind eye with our popular entertainment, the bread and circuses of the day.

And yet, here I sit, the beneficiary of all the ill gotten gains exploited from cultures and environments all over the world. Comfortable in my large home in a gated community, I sit at the top of the food chain of unearned benefits, accrued through violence and bloodshed.

I’m not being bombed or starved. My biggest worry is the quality of my golf game. In many shameful ways, I am a piece of shit. I could probably do more, but I don’t. Comments like this on Medium are about as far as I go. Sadly, I can’t even vote against these policies, because both parties embrace them.
