Coupon clipping is the latest Amazon fuckery. Many products on Amazon have special coupon discounts that require you to click a box. if you do not click this box, you do not get the discount when you check out, like when coupons used to be paper. (Clicking=Paper?)
In other words, through electronic sleight of hand, you pay a higher price.
First, how do you feel as a consumer knowing that the vendor and the market-maker are conspiring to make you pay an over-market price? Also, they apply the coupon if you put it in your inbox, hoping you will leave it there while the coupon expires, and you overpay that way.
Consider the other ways those groups rig everything to extract value from you. We are the chum in the shark tank. The merchants are sharks. Amazon is the tank master.
Second, as a merchant, are you sure the discounted sales were properly checked by consumers in Amazon”s system? Amazon would not charge full price and then tell me a discount was applied, pocketing the discount, would they? They are paragons of virtue and would never cheat anybody, right?
Third, if they don’t already, eventually, Amazon will apply that discount to every sale while the coupon is available, so the merchant pays on every sale, and the only consumers that benefit, are those who clicked the box and checked out quickly. Amazon gets everything else.
