Given that the most recent attempt at authoritarian rule was the January 6th insurrection put on by the political right, I have to assume you are deliberately ignoring the obvious because it doesn't fit within your world view. The political left is not trying to circumvent elections to install their leaders in perpetuity, unless you believe Trump's insane nonsense about a stolen election, I guess.
