In 1975 the Jehovah Witness church predicted the end of the world for the sixth time. In 1999, Pat Robertson of the 700 Club went on and on about Y2K and the coming end of the world. These were alarmist predictions made by people who were completely mistaken. Their believers were dumb, weak, and easily frightened, and the leaders should be insulted.

You believe you are different. You will interpret events to support your alarmist contentions and believe you are right even if 80% of the dire consequences you foresee don't come to pass.

Further, it's not like you've made some new prediction that people don't believe. Global warming has been known about for some time, and even those who profess not to believe in it probably do and just don't care.
