Let's say for a moment that you had an experience that convinced you that you were outside of the illusion. How would you know? How would you be certain that it wasn't also part of the illusion? Descartes evil demon thought experiment is one of the most profound conundrums of consciousness. Further, if you really want to dive deeper, all your conscious experiences are manufactured in your mind. I know it appears like your eyes are direct viewports to the outside world, but that is an illusion too.
