Monopolies are increasingly brazen in their ripoffs. I used to get internet service from Spectrum Communications. They wanted $80 per month. Frontier Communications offered me a better service for $45 per month. When I called up Spectrum to close my account, they offered me the same service for $40 per month because "I was in a competitve market." They actually said that. It's a company policy to quote different prices based on whether or not there is a market competitor. I told Spectrum I would rather pay more than do business with them.
