Personally, I always liked the vision of Emptiness presented by the Matrix. The people who were unplugged from the Matrix could see this odd green symbolic code that created the representation of reality within the Matrix. The substance of Matrix reality was not real; it was merely the manifestation of the data contained in that odd green code when interpreted by the Minds connected to the Matrix.

Our world is much like the Matrix. Our sense experience is like the green code, but our Minds take these basic data and create a world inside our Minds. We take sense data and add our feelings and interpretations of the meaning of that data and we bind it all together in our Minds to create experience, create our reality.

Just like the Matrix, the worlds created in our minds are not substantively real in the sense we believe it is. Most of our experience is actually created by Mind with the many associations and feelings we add to our sense experience.

In dualistic terms, the sense data we receive is very real, and we ignore it at our peril, but the extrapolation of this sense data which includes our feelings and associations with the data are contrived and often mistaken, which makes it unreal, or at least unrealistic. We live in a world both real and unreal at the same time, but most people lack the wisdom to see this deeper truth about reality, so that participate in the Matrix, clueless to the false world they believe is true.
