Shopping on Amazon takes longer because I have to waste so much time trying to get around their enshittification. Sorting low-to-high used to provide some value, but now it provides 10 pages of crap before it shows an actual product match.
So to overcome that, I try filtering by price range. When I do that, some listings inexplicably disappear, and the listings that remain are all overpriced "sponsored" listings. There is no reason for a price filter to stop products in that price range from showing up. And what's worse, no matter what price range I filter for, Amazon will always show me sponsored listings outside my filter range. Always.
So, trying another approach, I tried sorting high-to-low. I knew the first page would be full of the worst of the worst overpriced crap, so I thought I would skip to the end of the listings where the low-priced items would be found. Nope. Amazon disables that link so that to get to page 15 of your results, you must click through 14 pages of crap.
I tried sorting by best sellers, but that just showed me the sellers who paid the most to get sales from Amazon, so the enshittification premium would be baked into every best-selling product. Amazon would like people to believe best selling might have something to do with quality, but it clearly does not.
So, i can't sort low-to-high, filter by price, or sort high-to-low. Basically, I am forced to plow through their featured listings in the order they want to present them to me.
Their completely enshittified featured listings are so bewildering that I often end up picking the product that suffices rather than the one that provides most value. It isn't worth the extra time to hunt to squeeze out those few dollars for myself. Those few dollars are the rewards Amazon reaps for the shit they sow.
