The real problem is that everyone believes they know MUCH more than other people even when they are totally ignorant and misinformed. That is the Dunning-Kruger effect in action.

Debating the nuances of CRT is a waste of your effort. The debate isn't about CRT, it's about what schools should teach about racism and history. The political left wants to teach that racism is bad, pervasive, and persistent. The political right wants to teach that racism is in the past, overblown, and nothing white people today should feel bad about. CRT is a distraction because it is an esoteric legal theory taught only in high-level law classes. Racism and it's implications are taught in history classrooms at junior high and up everywhere in America. What we teach our children about racism is what the debate should focus on without all the distraction about CRT.

The heart of the issue is what we want to believe about America. Are we a society of explotative racist assholes, or are we a society of good people trying to do our best? There isn't an accepted middle ground where people feel comfortable admitting that our founding fathers were generally explotative racist assholes but over time our country has moved away from owning people as personal property and viewing them as inferior due to their race. We aren't perfect, but we are generally headed in the right direction.
