There was hype leading up to the Ukrainian counter offensive, which is not exactly providing for the element of surprise. The initial hopeful report I saw claimed that Ukrainian forces advanced 1,400 yards. I had to read it a second time to confirm the report said "yards." That's not even one mile. I guess the big number sounded impressive.

Have you noticed the war hype offers plenty of hope, plenty of support, but little in the way of actual progress. The Russian army is always on the brink of collapse, their moral is shit, the Ukrainian freedom fighters are well armed and in good spirits, yet, nothing happens that demonstrates any real progress. I'm amazed the propaganda has kept things together this long.
