This should really be a cause for celebration for Democrats. At this point, Trump has become a parasite draining financial resources away from other Republican candidates. The $200+ million he raised since the election syphoned off resources that could have gone to support the senate candidates in Georgia. In the future, lesser candidates will need to cow-tow to Trump and pay him obscene fees to turn out his base of supporters. Any moneys given to Trump is money that isn't supporting other Republican candidates.
Further, it's very unlikely he will be an effective candidate for President in the future. While he can turn out Republican voters, he's even more adept at turning out Democratic voters. The 10 million more votes for Joe Biden over Hillary Clinton wasn't due to Joe Biden's charisma, it was due to Donald Trump's antics. If he runs again in 2024 and manages to secure the nomination, Democratic turnout will again be off the charts. No Democrat is going to forget who he is or how he governed.
While I appreciate some of the alarmism about Trump's autocratic actions, our institutions, particularly the courts have shown remarkable strength and resilience under his constant political pressure. Not a single judge, even the ones he appointed, have sacrificed their integrity to give any of his cases any credibility. He's like 0-50 in front of our judiciary. Only the craziest of conspiracy theory nutcases can continue to cling to the notion that there is any evidence of any wrongdoing in the election. The framers of our constitution recognized the perils of a politically captured judiciary, and they did an excellent job setting up a system where Trump's antics have gone nowhere.
Get out your popcorn and watch the really craziness due to happen on January 6th. Trump will get a representative and a senator to object to the Electoral College results, and Trump will go down in flames one last time, but not before his absolute power over the GOP gets several of the party faithful to cast votes to disenfranchise millions of voters. Despite the treasonous votes of a few nuts in safe seats, Trump will be overwhelmingly voted down in both Houses, and in that moment, his grip on the GOP will be weakened considerably.
