Woke is opposition to whatever the mob on the political right wants to do. He doesn't want to define it clearly. He is only using it as a rallying cry. He wasn't clever enough to come up with MAGA, so he's clinging to "woke" as his branding. Apparently, "cancel culture" is too wordy, and since the political right is actively trying to cancel various marginalized groups, it doesn't have much impact, so the political right is going with "woke."

When you think about that word, "woke" is the past tense of wake. Someone who is enlightened is "awake", so if that person were enlightened some time ago, they are now "woke". Sounds rather hippie and progressive.

What I still don't understand is why politicians on the left don't simply embrace these labels and wear them as badges of honor. If someone called me woke, I would thank them for the compliment. I would rather be woke than an ignorant, selfish asshole.
