You are overlooking the bigger issue of exactly what constitutes a living self. A simulation like Data from the Star Trek series would still just be a simulation, completely lacking subjective experience. It is subjective experience that separates what’s real and what’s a person from what is an unreal simulation. All brain uploading in afterlife simulations will be fake. There is no person actually there having a subjective experience of it all, no matter how realistic that may look to an observer from the outside. Androids like Data from Star Trek might be able to pass the Turing test, but that would not make him a real person with real subjective experience. It’s all a giant illusion that might fool people on the outside but on the inside nobody is actually there.
