Zen Buddhists describe the virtue of devaluing all opinions, particularly your own. Most people are generally over-confident in their own abilities and believe their opinions carry the same certainty as fact. People who are certain in the truth of their opinions don't admit they are wrong -- ever. Many of them don't believe they are wrong even when confronted with facts and evidence. Our current state of political discourse proves this point daily. It's terribly prideful and narcissistic.
